Cassette, C30
Label : Self-released, US, 1991
"Imagine dragging your head in gravel while being shouted at in a deep guttural voice that demands you comply to a request that you can't decipher, this is BELT" Factsheet Five
From liner notes : "Described by Controlled Bleeding's Paul Lemos as, "slowly grinding slave ship torture rhythms" BELT's definitive 1991 release titled S/HE captures on tape the essence of gradual suffocation. For BELT the recording of S/HE was a very slow and careful process ; each expansion and contraction of sound methodically scrutinized and edited".
Tracklist :
A1. Virgin (7:28)
A2. Milk (6:40)
B. Sift (15:10)

Wow, this is great... I love these self-released rarities!!
hello, i really really enjoy your blog. i usually get everything of interest, which is quite a lot of the "music" on this site...
anyhow i cannot download this BELT cassette or the BELT CD you have posted here. the message from rapidshare states something like "this file is not allocated to a premium account or a collector's account and thus can only be downloaded 10 times..." and the rest of it, blah blah blah...
can you fix this?
thanks...
please use something else than rapidshare...
Thanks!!! I bought this cassette in 1991, after seeing Belt play one of their few live shows at Kaleidoscope Records on the Lower Haight in San Francisco. Who knows where that tape is now.... very glad to have these sounds again, they have aged very well.
I had the pleasure of doing Butoh style performance with joel bender on his 6 ( or so ) stop live tour in '91 . . . Hoping to have some of this downloaded from here as i have no document of the music . . . thanks ! Was nice to hear someone saw us play ! ( macumbista )
