Many thanks to Wackelpeter for the rip of that rare cassette ! On Le Syndicat website, we can read about that release : "In 1983, Ruelgo meets Pacific 231. This industrial French artist is a pioneer of the style. He has just produced one of the first French industrial compilation (Ritual Dos Sadicos) which included also cold wave tracks. His is equipped with electronic instruments and with a typewriter. With him, Ruelgo will refine its industrial culture and will enter in contact with the "Mail Art" network of the years 80. Pacific 231 has contacts all over the world and received a heap of contributions to his new project of compilation. Le Syndicat will publish the volume zero of this compilation : "L'Enfer Est Intime", and will contribute to his electro tribal project : ANKH". In 1985 as well was released by VP 231 a double compilation LP, "L'Enfer Est Intime : Volume Général".

That cassette was sent to vodka ed by German Shepherds : "Back in '88 I had written to them at the address on the LP and they wrote back telling me to send them a blank tape. They sent it back with their first EP + 7", some live tracks and other oddities. My tape does have 4 unique songs going by title alone - "Brain Police (Live)", "Toad World", "I'm Anal" & "Let It All Hang Out (Live)"". "From the cover : 1-5 are from EP, 6-7 from 45, tracks 3 & 13 with Kate Koemneke".

As I was planning to post what I thought was an unreleased cassette by German Shepherds, I saw in Discogs that a similar cassette was released on Tonspur Tapes. But it seems not to be exactly the same cassettes : mine has one more track, "Wally Spencer Sold" (A7), and A4 track has not the same title... German Shepherds LP and first 7" can be downloaded here.

Originally released on LP in 1987 by P16.D4's own label Selektion, "Tionchor" is a compilation of tracks that previously appeared on various compilations. According to Cranio, P16.D4's "Tionchor" is "probably their most successful album, precisely because it offers a variety of ideas instead of an obsessive analysis of one idea". For more P16.D4 and related artists, please go there.

That cassette compilation is surprising, as it features famous artists (Bene Gesserit, Konstruktivits, The Legendary Pink Dots, Nurse With Wound, P16.D4) as well as many names who have never appeared anywhere else. It contains a minimal but wonderful version of "Flesh Parade", one of my favourite tracks by The Legendary Pink Dots / Edward Ka-Spel.
